Hi everyone, I have an amnesty / extension question that I couldn’t find an answer for on the previous postings.

I entered Thailand on a simple 30 day free tourist visa, 1 day before Thailand closed it’s borders.

Before my 30 days expired, Thailand issued the visa amnesty until July 31st.

Which means, I never needed to file & pay for my one month extension (that comes with the 30 days free visa).

Can I count on getting a 1 month extension on July 31st???

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring if they can obtain a one-month extension after the visa amnesty, which ends on July 31st, following their entry into Thailand on a 30-day tourist visa. Responses indicate uncertainty and advise checking with the local Thai immigration office.

Ask your local Thai immigration office.

Good Luck.

This group goes by what either is published on the Royal Gazette, or by what the immigration and other offices have done. As of right now, there has been nothing announced or published what will happen after July 31. I would ASSUME you can not get a 30 day extension of stay based on being a tourist, and you will have to leave Thailand.

In Pre-COVID-19, if you apply for an extension of stay, and it is denied, you have 7 days to leave Thailand. It is better to assume that you’ll be denied, than to make plans for being in Thailand for 30 more days.
