TLDR : Answer Summary
The primary question concerns whether getting a tooth implant can qualify someone for a 5-year visa in Thailand. The consensus among commenters suggests that while a long-term dental treatment, typically lasting 6 months or more, might qualify for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV), it is crucial to provide a detailed treatment plan. Several commenters shared their personal experiences, indicating that dental clinics can issue letters that could support visa applications, although some were skeptical about the feasibility of obtaining a visa solely based on dental work. Many also recommended specific dental clinics and expressed that guidelines are becoming stricter regarding the use of dental work as a grounds for extended visas.
in chalong Phuket the best just had a lot completed and so good

Why not do a border run everytime you need a tooth pull out.
Should get at least 30 visas.
But might have trouble eating you steak in Thailand 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Maybe just follow the laws

yes 5 years for each tooth you have to show them around your neck to your IO, immigration will welcome you.
Bob *******
Yes, you can use that to get a visa. You will need to provide the old tooth with your application.

They have a website outlining their serviced with price list. I sent them an email stating what work I needed, they responded back with that day - showing my schedule days for my procedure (6 visits) 2-3 weeks and the total cost.
They have 2 branches Head Office at Vibhavadi Branch and the other on Sukhumvit Sol 15 Branch. Best of luck

It's because of guys like this that soon the DTV will no longer be available for serious people
Kevin *********
For that you'll need to exchange all your teeth at least 3 times

Anytime I read something this dumb I realize how doomed society is. Considering humans have an average of 30 teeth, if you pull one a year you could effectively stay in Thailand for 150 years. Awesome plan.....

I done one border crossing January this year I’m back in Thailand last November done my 30 extension on Monday gone they stamped my passport telling me no more visa this year unless I do retirement visa my flight is booked out of Thailand first week in April so it looks like I’m going to rebook my flight home early unless I get married and prove I’m single 😱

Sounds like you are pushing the envelope and you know it. My dentist in Pak Chong is fantastic. She trained in Sheffield UK where my niece is a doctor. You can contact me if you want.

I gave myself a sliver and now I'm going for the 10 year visa based on medical treatment for that. You should be good with a tooth. I'd take a few extra out just in case though

Can anyone share the prices of their dentistry work to get an idea please?

Of anyone willing to share contact name/company ideal as well. Really appreciate the info! Thank you!
i had mine done in Mumbai, 3 implants (strauman with zirconia crowns, 2x3 unit bridges, 1 extraction, bone graft, sinus lift and xrays $7k AUD. VERY happy and much cheaper than Thailand.
100-130k baht depending on which brand of implant you get. You can probably find cheaper dentists using less expensive implants. My dental surgeon specializes in implants.

I would not advise you to go through the New York consulate if you're in the US as it took 11 weeks with only one week of delay on my part
wow mine went in middle of August this year and didn't get until November after I'd already been here for a month LOL tried to make a border run to change visas and as it happened it was the very first day immigration started enforcing their rules with border runs and I got turned back in nong Kai

I have gotten several implants at BIDC (Bangkok International Dental Clinic) and the quality is first rate. Probably not the cheapest place in Thailand, but still cheaper than the US and much higher quality.

I had an implant done around 2-3 years ago at Bangkok Smile. The surgeon who performed mine was also a head trauma surgeon who fixed up muay thai, and traffic accident facial injuries so was very experienced.. Depending on where you currently are in the implant cycle you may need a year more in dentist procedures or you may require less than 6 months. It might depend if you have already had the old tooth extracted yet or not as this adds addition time until completion. After my old tooth was extracted, the bone required 4-6 months heal time. Then the tooth implant gets done. It then requires a further 4-6 month healing time before its strong enough to have implant fitted. If you have already had the tooth extracted and had the healing time then that may take your remaining time down for appointments to be around 6 months and in that case you may only need a 6 month METV. If you still require the full treatment that I had then your treatment plan can be spread over a longer period of time and might have more cause for having the DTV granted based on dental.
i read the individual treatments makes it a bit more understandable . but always assumed it was £1500 a tooth in uk not aware that all the other stuff was priced separately . that was a while ago i looked into it though
Oh price wise it was 2 -3 time more in home country for same procedure. You may had been thinking of a bridge. My tooth was at back next to the wisdom tooth, so either have no deep chewing tooth there or get it done. Not able to have bridge done there as no two strong teeth around it
the difference between something lasting 5 years or 50 years

If it takes 5 years.

It’s difficult with the tooth, you should try Nail Implants (Nail Extentions). I heard they offer 10 years on that.

I know at least two people who went through this route and were successful. One person from USA and the other from Belgium. Be thorough with your paperwork and find a clinic that has successfully done this. Good luck!🍀
the thing is...a person can do all the things you mentioned by travelling in and out as a tourist. There's no necessity to grant a 5 year visa for this. But then again, that's just my opinion. Thailand may actually grant the visa!
thank you for this informative post! I was thinking of going the medical route but went for soft power instead as there are very few people posting concrete doctor recommendations.
Just chosing a random doctor often won't work as they don't understand the paperwork they should produce for a DTV application.

There was someone when they first come out got one with just one dentist appointment so dont know why everyone laughing
maybe lucky back then. Now there are smarter, less corrupt and more by the book. I would say he is better going to Vietnam where they have more up to date equipment, price is way better and a number of them including accomodation and airfares. Thailand is not longer the best option
in BKK you can message me if you are wanting more information 🙏

It was going to cost me up in the area of 100k + in OZ here in my 2nd home
52k AUD for everything and sure you can have it cheaper BUT you will pay fir it later. I listen to recommendations from friends and others I trust. Can vouch for Betty Smiles clinic at
If you head in there just say Kun Gary told you about how well they are and the team there will look after you. I’m heading in there again on the 13th of Jan
did your treatment involve teeth or tooth transplant procedure. I am near MBK for the next 3 weeks & might drop in to make further enquiries, as my age is now dictating transplants.
but we have a filipino humor for that. Sounds crazy

Implants need at least 6 months, from initial fixing, to final fixing with crowns. To allow the bone to properly fuse to the implant, before adding the tooth.
So, yeah, probably qualifies.
Get a full plan of the treatment from start to finish, with times and dates
- I had all of my teeth replaced with implants in Thailand and it took only two weeks. The dental clinic wanted me to return months later for a final fitting, but I didn’t return.
currently going through an implant and will get the actual tooth fitted about 9 weeks after initial screwed fitted. And that rushing it a little due to my flying out soon. Dentist advised that I might not be able to have it fully torqued down due to the short time frame.
Not sure how it was all done in two weeks, bone would definitely not have fully healed around the screw.
currently in Australia but moving to Thailand mid January. The implant type is internationally recognised and i will have the documentation to complete the torquing if not completed to the required level here.
But this loophole is closing fortunately. And "Genuine tourists" can still have two 60 day visa exempt entries with 30 and 7 day extensions. Its 157 days in one year. Still very generous. More than that is not genuine tourism
Simple answer hmmm doubt it, but you can always try 😄 🤣

You generally need a fully outlined treatment plan, including scheduled appointments and planned treatments. The entire treatment should cover at least 6 months, if not longer. Without covering this time period, you would likely be given a multiple entry tourist visa instead of a DTV, as you don't need that much time in Thailand to finish everything.
Definitely not in my case. One single confirmed appointment signed by a dentist. The hardest part is finding a dental clinic that will have the doctor sign a letter with an appointment with proposed treatment.
When was that though? There were plenty of reports of that when DTV was new, but things have tightened up a LOT, and the embassies are not so generous anymore.
I’m not sure where those “plenty of reports” are coming from. I’m speaking from recent first-hand experience: my DTV for medical treatment was approved with a single confirmed appointment, no 6-month treatment plan.
Requirements are applied case-by-case and vary by embassy. Presenting assumptions or second-hand anecdotes as fixed rules is misleading.
Sometimes real approvals matter more than online reports.
