Has anyone received the DTV based on a medical reason?

I am having an implant done now in the USA in October but would be in Thailand about the time where I could get a crown on it (takes 3-6 months to heal first)... and wonder is that would suffice.... (it may not be until Feb).

So I just need to show some sort of proof of an appointment with a Dentist, etc?

From what I casually read though it might be for onlu ongoing medical care (long term issue...)....

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around obtaining a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) based on medical reasons, specifically dental treatment. One user shares their experience with hormone treatments and successfully applying for a DTV with minimal requirements. However, there is a consensus that most medical DTVs require an in-person meeting with a medical practitioner and a detailed treatment plan extending beyond six months. Others mention alternatives for treatment plans and the potential for different visa types, like METV, depending on the treatment duration.

I have medical soft power with hormone treatments. Checkup expected every 6 months or so.

While I did do a full blood work panel in Thailand at the clinic they in no way created some 6 month plan for me. I had the blood test and then a letter saying I had an appointment to come back to review results. It was easy for me to do this in Thailand because I’ve been living here since 2020. Applying for DTV because my work visa had ended.

I wrote a well intended cover letter detailing my intentions for the treatment, my age, how this would deeply improve my health as well as my love for Thai culture.

I applied in Jakarta back in March. Approved within a few days with no request for more information.

Anonymous participant 369 was easier before but getting tighter.. I olan on applying for a Medical Treatment DTV shortly. I see my Dr. tomorrow and will request a 18 month plan.. additionally, will provide 5 years of reciepts and a letter from each provider stating the dates of previous treatments to show a pattern of treatment ....we will see how it goes.

Anonymous participant 474 if you have all of that should be a breeze. Definitely put effort into your cover letter to make it all clear for those reviewing. Good luck!

I'm considering applying for a DTV for chiropractic treatment, or possibly hatha yoga classes.

Every medical DTV I have read about required meeting the medical practitioner in person and getting a treatment plan

Some people managed approval based on 1 appointment but that is unlikely now but even those were initially in Thailand to get all the paperwork etc and then applied from outside Thailand

Will need a long term plan beyond 6 months. 6months of treatment can lead to an METV being issued instead of the DTV.
