TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses obtaining a Medical Visa or extension for dental procedures in Thailand. Users suggest contacting the nearest Royal Thai Embassy for visa information and advise that medical extensions might be available with proper documentation from a dentist. They note that extensions are usually granted for elective procedures based on medical necessity but may be challenging to obtain.

the immigration office does not easily hand out extensions based on medical reasons. You're out nothing by trying but I don't know if elective work will qualify or not 😕

Seeing as you're already in thailand all you can do is take documentation from the dentist stating you cannot travel for xxx days and apply for a medical extension. They can be granted for up to 90 days at a time, but usually 60 days is more the length of time they issue them for.

Are you now in Thailand?

Or outside?

Is this for you or your husband?

Frankly I have never heard of a medical visa or medical extension of stay being issued for dental work...inside or outside of Thailand.

it’s for both of us. We both have root canals and fillings and bleaching and he might have some veneers.

Currently we’re in Thailand for another month then our visa is up.

highly doubtful you will get a medical extension.

You have successfully lived in Thailand since 2019 using every possible variety of visas, extensions, border and visa runs.

Time to really decide what is your Plan B.

If it involves working in Thailand...get a job which offers a Thai work permit with opportunity for a trailing spouse.

One more visa run to Cambodia for a VISA may give you one more opportunity on return to get that job...

Or attend a Thai university studying for a Bachelor or Master's degree..

Your options are limited if not age 50+.

And frankly speaking...

Returning to Thailand visa exempt would not be wise with your long history of living in Thailand.

Try it with a tourist visa or Non B as teacher if you can find a job quickly.

I wish you well and success...

But your road ahead is indeed challenging.

did your husband get an extension in the end? 2 days ago you said his extension had expired and immigration refused to renew?

Don't think it's a visa you can get inside Thailand.

Contact your nearest Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate for the visa itself.

General information for an extension based on medical treatment is here. But the best is to talk to your doctor to see if they can support you with that.
