TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the appropriate visa for dental treatment in Thailand. Most participants suggest that for short dental procedures, a 60-day entry stamp with a possible 30-day extension suffices. However, for longer treatments, the NON-O visa for medical purposes or the DTV soft medical visa may be necessary.

Thank you. That is very good to know. Shall discuss with dentist Wednesday next

If you go to the root cause first, that should cap it off. Cheers

yes I think the surgeon / dentist has it all under control.

what's your dental treatment with expected duration? Also how old are you?

@Phil *****
I don’t know the duration yet. I have asked for it to be completed in two stage. While here now. Will have I think approx 5 implants at the bottom. When I come back hopefully will have complete implants at the top. And because my existing ones at the bottom have got smaller with time will then be capped or crowned to suit the new implants at the bottom previously. I think that is about it. What effect does my age have on this. Is the older I am the cheaper it gets. Or is it the reverse. I am 66 nearing 67….

No I do not have a Thai Bank account.

As I am still only on tourist visa.

And yes I do have Wise.

A Pattaya agent may be my only option..

ok go for the 6th month AIS plan at ฿1800. Then the best visa for your circumstances is the DTV. The dental surgery can help you too.

Get ฿500,000 in your account to apply from overseas.

Good luck

@Phil *****
Thank you. That 500,000 bht. Its equivalent can be in a uk bank. Would I assume correctly? Would a Wise account suffice?

if your applying from the UK then look at the evisa website. Some Embassies have different rules specifically to where you apply.

Now you mention Wise....why?

Do you have a Thai bank account now?

You won't be able to get one with the DTV but head to Pattaya and get a bangkok bank account with an agent starting at ฿5k.

Ask the dental institution for info too.

If you need more than 60+30 days there’s a non-o visa category for medical treatment

could I obtain a non - o - visa while in Thailand. And how long do they last do you know..
Rolf *********
@George’s *********************
exactly, medical treatment is an option for non-o, you just proved my point for me 😂😂😂
Rolf *********
@George’s *********************
I’m not an expert on visas, I just read earlier today the requirements for non-o and saw a medical treatment option. But if use an agency here in Thailand they can surely arrange it for you while in the country. But they charge a service fee. A non-o is 12 months, with extension every 90 days.

There are others in this group that can answer your question more accurately

complete and utter nonsense

@Greg **********
are you drunk? There’s a medical treatment option for non-o visa. And you extend every 90 days for a year. And agencies arrange any kind of visa while you’re in Thailand, and they charge a fee for that service.

Did you come to Thailand yesterday or can’t read ?
Greg ***********
@Rolf ********
still nonsense. READ the requirements for an extension on a Non-Imm-O medical. It cannot be extended for one year. It is only good for 3 months. Needs to be applied for outiside of Thailand. It is EITHER an Non-Imm-O medical reason visa, or it is a simple day/weeks extension to be applied for with a letter from the hospital

If the dental treatment will take months then get the DTV soft medical visa.

Just enter on a 60-day free entry stamp, if necessary get the 30-day extension at the immigration office. I think most dental procedures can be carried out in a three-month window.

@Jim *******
60 day entry stamp is free yes.

with a statement of the dentist about the time needed for the dental work, you can apply for a 5-year DTV which will give you a 180-days stay permit on each entry
George’s **********************

@Greg **********
Does that mean I could leave Thailand . Say after 180 days For one week. Then return for 180 days. And start the process again for the entirety of the 5 years.?

@George’s *********************
yes thats how the DTV works

you don't need a visa to go to the dentist, regardless of the treatment.

that's a fair point. If he plans to go to Thailand many times and maybe also for a bit longer, it could be a viable option.
