Can I apply for a DTV visa using a general letter from my dentist in Thailand?

I want to get a DTV from a soft power dental work application, here's my situation:

I recently got a crown done from a Bangkok Government Dental Office. I need to do another implant and crown on the other side and asked the doctor if he could give me a letter so I could apply for the DTV.

Pros - The letter from the doctor is on the office letterhead, is signed by him and has the "official" stamp. This is a government dental office.

Cons - The letter is pretty general saying that I got a crown done and that I plan to get an implant done on my next visit, and a crown after that. Unfortunately there are no specific dates/timelines/payment plans.

I'm heading to Vietnam in a few days and am thinking about applying from Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi.

I was also thinking about applying from Taipei since I read on here that you could talk to someone first before paying the application fee to see what your chances are. I also read on here that Taipei plans to go online application only in January 2025, and unfortunately I can't be there by then.

Also, I'm turning 50 next May so maybe I should go for the retirement O-A Visa instead?

Any thoughts or advice? Do I have a chance? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary

If going for Retirement then go for the O not the O-A. You apply for the O in Thailand and the O-A outside.

Why don't you just make a series of appointments and get written confirmation?

Taipei will be online only after the 27th

Better to have future specific treatment appointments outlined in the letter. OA visa can only be obtained in your home country, initially it has a benefit of 800k funds in your home country, but requirements include mandatory health insurance and criminal background check. Extension requirement funding is the exact same after the visa expires. A vanilla non Imm O is not as restrictive. Suggest you clarify the differences for your situation before deciding on which suits you best.

Just pick mine up and same application. I had my previous appointments to show along with x-rays. My letter stated that l needed further work and that it would commence in January and take further appointments to complete the work. Hopefully yours is ok good luck. They were more concerned about the 500,000 bht I gave 3 months statements from my home country bank and wrote the transfer rate and = in thb. They checked this.
