Visa expires 10th april. Was hoping for a 30 day extension (last extension). Is it true most places only issuing 7 day visa extensions now? No real advice given anywhere.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about obtaining a 30-day visa extension before their visa expires on April 10th, with concerns that only 7-day extensions are being issued. Comments clarify that if the user has not previously extended their visa, they are eligible for a 30-day extension at a cost of 1900 THB. However, if they have already extended their visa, they may only receive a 7-day extension and a reminder to leave Thailand. Furthermore, some users suggest obtaining a letter from the embassy for potential additional extensions.

There is first the 30 days "normal" Extension of Stay
Or get the letter from your Embassy for an extra 30 days, OR
the Extension of Stay NOT approved and you get 7 days to pack your bags and leave the country, BE AWARE it is leave the country not come back and try for a new Extension.
You can count until the last day, make some plans just in case the day comes near and the virus is still around.
Good luck and stay healthy

How am I supposed to get the letter for an 'extra' 30-day visa extension, if my embassy has closed down?

Yes. And we German go from low risk to high risk covid-19.. thank you Germany.
the German Embassy has published on their website that they will NOT under NO circumstances issue the letter to you. They advice you to go on standby at the airport and get back to Germany ASAP
as A German I guess ...NO chance, as their are Daly flights back home

Simple really. If you have NOT extended your original visa or exemption, Yes you'll get 30 days.
If you have already extended by 30 days, no you won't.

if you have not extend you current visa or visa exampt, you can get a 30 day extension of stay based on being a tourist for 1900THB.
If you already have gotten this extension, then some immigration offices may sell a 7 day extension of stay denied stamp. When you get that stamp, you have 7 days to leave Thailand.
For some nationality, and for some circumstances, your country may issue a letter saying you can not travel due to the COVID-19 virus. If you do, you may get an additional 30 day extension of stay. Talk to your embassy tomorrow. If you are on overstay, you will not get that extension.
