Simple question. ED visa expires March 10th, can someone confirm it’s ok to fly on out the 10th, or should we fly out on the 9th? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether it is permissible to fly out of Thailand on the expiration date of their ED visa (March 10). Responses confirm that while it is allowed, doing so will result in an overstay stamp unless the visa is canceled at the immigration office prior to departure. If the user leaves within 24 hours of the expiration, they will receive a stamp indicating a waived fine. However, if they overstayed beyond 24 hours, a fine will be imposed.

okay I think the O/P has enough information to realize that IF they fly out within 24 hours of their stamp expiring they will get an overstay stamp in their passport but it will say fine waived overstay under 24 hours. Any amount over that 24 hour period and they get fined for 2 days (500+500=1000)

Good luck to them

I guess you have a big stamp in your passport with the text: Extension of Stay permitted up to 10 Mar 2022.

This Extension you got with help of the school, must be cancelled at the same Immigration Office before you leave the country.

If you fly out a day after, official you have 1 day overstay and pay the fine of 500 thb a day.

Actually it enforced as the time passing the departure immigration. A flight shorty after midnight is no problem.

Hi, no, sorry I don't understand. If 10 March on the stamp, should not be that can leave the country before 24: 00 10 March?

A person has until 11:59PM (or 2359H) to leave Thailand on the date of the "admitted to" stamp.

For the poster, if his "admitted to" stamp is until March 10th, he can stay until 11:59PM on March 10.

Nice one. That's what I felt a bit confused from messages above, but now it's very clear. Thanks man. Well, in case of fight delayed, for example, the flight planned to departure on 11PM on last day but delayed 2 hours or cancelled, so person just needs to get a temporary stamp or paper or something from immigration office at airport but no need any penalties, is it?

A person "leaves" Thailand when they cross over passport control. They can be physically in Thailand, at the departure terminal for multiple days, but as long as they have that "departure" stamp, they legally left Thailand.

This is helpful. So if we go to

Immigration to have it cancelled for the 10th, we can fly out on the 10th, correct?
