What are my options for extending my ED visa and dealing with potential overstays in Thailand before my flight?

ORIGINAL POSTER
American passport. ED visa extension ends December 24th. My flight home is december 26th.

The person who handles the paperwork for my school is out of the country, and won't return until the 23rd. I was planning on going to immigration on the 22nd. My new plan is to get the paperwork on the 23rd and go to immigration on Monday the 25th, Christmas. I read going in on the first business day after a stamp expires is ok, no fine imposed.

I see conflicting information about getting a 7 day 'get out of thailand' stamp. Do I need to file for and get denied an extention to get the stamp or will immigration just give me one on the 25th?

Also, if i just overstay 2 days after canceling my visa, and pay fine at the airport, will a 2 day overstay affect any future ED visa applications? I am planning on returning next year and attending university.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American expat is facing a dilemma with their Education (ED) visa as it expires on December 24th, and they have a flight on December 26th. With the person responsible for their paperwork unavailable until December 23rd, they plan to submit their extension request on December 25th, which is Christmas. They are uncertain if they will receive a 7-day 'get out of Thailand' stamp without first being denied an extension. They also inquire about the implications of a 2-day overstay after canceling their visa, questioning whether this will affect future applications for an ED visa.

Do we have to leave within 24 hours after Ed Visa cancellation? Or 7 days extra to leave? Any idea?

That's ok then, less than one year so only a 5 year ban if caught

Piss poor advice. Apply for the extention and get 7 days to leave.

The "extension denied, piss off within 7 days" stamp is nothing I would love to have stamped into my pp. You get it if you try to apply for something you can't get.

Overstay 2 days is less serious.

What planet are you living on? An overstay stamp is far more serious than an 'extention denied' stamp.
