TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen on a sixty-day tourist visa in Thailand can apply for a sixty-day extension based on marriage to a Thai national. It is suggested to visit the immigration office with your Thai spouse to gather the necessary requirements and documents for applying for the extension.

sounds like you got your answer, head to your immigration office with your thai wife BEFORE you need to get the extension, get the hand out that lists the requirements for a 60 day visit thai family extension based on marriage to a thai. Get the documents together, go apply for the extension for 1900baht.

In that case, apply for an extension of stay based on visiting family, you’ll be able to stay an additional 60 days. But it does seem like things are quickly changing
