Hello everybody,

I arrived in Thailand on the 3/aug/2019, no issue at the border as it is my first time to travel here.

A while ago, not realising I could stay only 30 days, I booked a flight from Thailand to Indonesia on the 5/sept/2019.

This is a 3 days overstay in Thailand (French passport)

I went to the immigration on Friday wanting to get a 3 days extension or at least notify them. They asked me to fill the TM7. Which I did but they refused the process my application because I did not do the TM30...

I intend to come back to Thailand after Indonesian for another 30 days before I can get a proper work permit.

I am renting a condo with a 1 year contract so I can get the TM30.

However, if I get the 90 days extension for just 3 extra days is it going to get cancel as soon as I leave the country?

And what will happen when I return from Indonesia on the 16/sept/2019?

Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about an upcoming 3-day overstay due to a lack of knowledge regarding visa rules after entering Thailand on a visa-exempt entry. They intend to apply for a 90-day extension, but commenters point out that a 30-day extension is typically granted for visa-exempt entries. The user is advised that any extension granted would be canceled upon departure, and they are provided with options to avoid penalties, including acquiring a TM30 and re-entry permits.

yes, a 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry WOULD cancel when you stamp out of the country

You COULD come here, get a 30 day extension (by submitting what ever documents you needed to at the immigration office) THEN get a single re-entry permit for 1000baht (which would be valid until the end of the 30 day extension you just got, Leave the country on the 5th, come back on the 16th and you'd get stamped in until the end of the 30 day extension date you had.

You have 2 legal options - 30 day extension for 1900 Baht or do a land border run to activate a new exemption which will get you past the 3 days.

Just don’t even consider overstaying the 3 days.

What ever you like to do in the future is nice and i hope all goes as planned, but there is nobody in the world who can tell you what will happen in the future.

I’m curious, what do you mean by a 90 day extension? They don’t give 90 day extensions for visa exampts.

Why do you think you get a 90 day Extension of Stay, on what is this based? All I understand is that you made your way to Thailand without any visa, you got based on the Nationality of your passport a 30 day Visa Exempt Entry and you like to apply for an Extension of Stay at an Immigration Office that enforce the rule that your address must be registered within 24 hours. If your land lord did not do this on time, he still can do and a fine must be paid.

I think they mis-typed and meant the 30 day extension
