TLDR : Answer Summary
The initial question concerns the ability to convert a 30-day visa exemption into a 60-day visa in Pattaya, followed by a possible 30-day extension. Responses clarify terminology, distinguishing between 'visa on arrival' and 'visa exempt entry', and suggest that it is feasible to extend the 30-day exemption at a local immigration office. Additionally, the topic of extending a 60-day tourist visa for another 30 days is discussed, with insight into potential fees and regulations that may change after November 1.

We will know more after 1 Nov…you can get a 30 day visa free waiver stamp then for ฿1,900 extension at your local immigration you can extend that for 30 days…who knows if the land borders will be open to apply for the 60 day SETV or a relatively cheap air border to do a fly Out/In for the SETV….wait until 1 Nov to find out

If you’re talking about a tourist visa you’d get 60 days on arrival and that can also be extended for 30 days.

@Stuart ********
I heard on arrival we get only 15 days? Is that changed into 30 days now?
Stuart *********
@Disha **********
Are you coming in with the “Visa on Arrival”? If so you are correct that that is only 15 days.

@Stuart ********
Ohh got it

@Disha **********
if you apply for a tourist visa at your local embassy you could get 60 days.

like bank statement, work permit, Id, license..and I'm volunteer here I don't have work permit and Id
Stuart *********
@Disha **********
Sorry I’m not familiar with the rules of your embassy, but perhaps your volunteer organisation can write a letter confirming your status.

@Stuart ********
so if I got visa on arrival so is it possible to extend that?
Stuart *********
@Disha **********
No. I believe that you may apply for an extension, which would be denied and you’d be given 7 days to leave.
Disha ***********
@Stuart ********
Ohhhh so it's better that I apply visa first here right?
Stuart *********
@Disha **********
Yes better if you can.

well they’ve renamed it ThailandPass but it’s pretty much the same thing. We don’t know all the details yet, and no one knows if it’ll actually be live for the 1st November.

,do u mean the applied 90 days (60+ 30 days extension ) will start to effect when ur visa approved or at ur entry to Thailand
Stuart *********
@William ***************
that’s if you buy a “tourist visa “ from a embassy before you travel. It’s valid for 90 days from when you apply. You get 60 days on arrival. Cost is something like $40. The cost is a guess.

@Stuart ********
he thought he can make TR visa inside thailand which isn't true
Stuart *********
@Dror ********
I didn’t read it that way, but you’re correct you cannot get a tourist visa inside Thailand.

@William ***************
you get 30 days on visa exemption. You get 60 days with a tourist visa you obtain from the Thai Embassy before arrival.
Stuart *********
Sorry but semantics matter. You will not be getting a “visa on arrival”. You’d get at a “visa exempt entry”. You can get a further 30 days extension from that at your local immigration office.
