TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about extending their tourist visa one month before expiration. Responses indicated that it is generally allowed to extend a tourist visa up to 30 days before expiration, but experiences vary by immigration office. Several users advised going during mid-week to avoid long wait times, with some stating that certain offices, like Jomtien, may restrict extensions until closer to the expiration date (within a week). The conversation also touched upon the nuances of extending visa statuses and different rules applied by various immigration offices.

Jomtien made us wait until 2 business days before expiry just recently previously 1 week

Anyone know how many times a 30+30 visa on entry will be granted consecutively? Somebody said 3. But I don't know if that's official. Thanks.

Infinite by air. 2 per calendar year by land. At immigration discretion by air so the infinite depend on officer mood.

It seems no two offices have the same rules. Go into an office on a day and time when they are less busy (usually mid week) and ask. The worst that happens is they say not to

I did extension at jomtien chonburi immigration with 7 days left on visa exempt they won't do extension there any earlier than that

@Francois *******
but if you are already on a 30 free visa you ask a 60 instead of 30 extension?

Anthony ****
@Francois *******

I think you can not extended one more , maybe visa run border is that you have to do.( I m not sure of that , but you came with 30 days then extended 30 days . I think it s over for another extension… )

Maybe someone know that , how many 30 days (extension) you can do without visa ????

@Francois *******
nono! 30 days flight to vietnam and couple days later flight to thailand so it will be my first time to ask a 30 day extension and I will do a visa run after my 30 days extension

on your passport stamp expire ( after 60 days ) then go to immigration for extended it 30 days. Total 90 days

well, you can go from up to 30 days before expiry. However some immigrations will then tell you to come back in the last week before expiry (becoz' they are having their lazy day)

@Nongnuch *******

Nongnuch ********

Jomtien not true.Always 1 week ago Jomtien
Nongnuch ********
@Stelar ******
ok. Probably I confused Jomtien with Khon Kaen and Surat Thani. You wanted to say "one week before expiry" isn't that what you wanted to say? Or did Jomtien tell you "always one week ago" ? 😄😅
Incognia **********
@Nongnuch *******
i speak thai with them not english.It means 7 days before visa expiration
Nongnuch ********
@Stelar ******
and not the visa expires! The stay permit expires. The visa already expired at entry.
