Hello, I was wondering whether it's possible to enter Thailand on a visa waiver card from the UK and then upgrade to a visa of some kind, perhaps a 3-month tourist visa? I was considering visiting an immigration office after a week or so. Thanks in advance for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion addresses whether someone from the UK can enter Thailand on a visa waiver and subsequently upgrade to a 3-month tourist visa. Multiple comments clarify that while it's possible to enter on a visa waiver, one cannot convert it to a tourist visa from within Thailand. It is recommended to apply for a 60-day electronic tourist visa before traveling or consider obtaining a non-immigrant visa based on eligibility.

You cannot change to a tourist visa of any type from inside Thailand.

The tourist e visa is very easy to do before you leave UK. Then you have no worries when you arrive.

if you wanted a 60 day do you have to show funds in the UK

I just sent a screenshot of recent bank balance. I applied on Fri afternoon and received evisa by email on Monday morning. £30. After 60 days you go to immigration to get 30day extension

OK. Thank you. I don't have a UK bank account as we moved out money to Thailand 9 years ago. If these Covid extensions don't hold up I have to go back to the UK. May have to rely on the 30 exemption

There's no three month tourist visa, but there are several non-immigrant visas if you qualify

The stv visa gives you 90 days which you can extend twice 90+90+90(270)

Gerald Blairs. It's not available in Thailand. It has to be applied for in the applicant's home country, so not really what the OP was asking.

Easier to get a 60 day electronic tourist visa from the Thai embassy in London which you can extend once for 30 days giving total of 90 days.

Yes it is possible, but it is much more convinient and easy to apply for the correct visa before you travel, you can use the on line application site:
