TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, for a 60-day tourist visa to Thailand, you are generally required to provide an onward ticket. This requirement is common as tourist visas typically necessitate proof of exit from Thailand within the allotted time. While some travelers have reported varying experiences, securing an onward ticket is advisable to ensure compliance with visa regulations.

Can i get a 60 day visa online before arriving in Thailand. I am exempt from USA. How do they verify where your staying

My onward ticket has always 5 months from my arrival. I was told by a Thai Consulate they don't care what your outbound ticket is because anyone can change this at anytime....
I came to thailand with the same dilemma. I bought a return ticket, was not asked for confirmation by anyone, canceled the return when I obtained my visa extension.

Tourist visas require a flight into and out of Thailand, generally within 60 days, though some embassies will allow 90 days.
