Ok.. so I’m here on 60 day visa exempt and want to get a Non O retirement visa(90 days and extend for one year)

If understand correctly I can apply online using evisa while here and once I have the confirmation email, print it out and do a boarder run and this then gets stamped for 90 days?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about converting their 60-day visa exemption to a Non-O retirement visa, which allows a 90-day stay extendable for a year. They believe they can apply for the visa online while in Thailand, then perform a border run. However, respondents clarify that online applications must be made from outside Thailand, and they caution about bank account and proof of funds requirements for the application process.

You need to prove you have 800k baht or equivalent in order to apply for 90days nonO since u don't have a thai acct u can't do it in thailand (unless agent help you) if you do it in other countries does the thai embassy in that particular country accept your prove of funds?

Easiest way is to take a 2wk vacation to Vietnam and use evisa from there. Then come get your bank account, etc ...

You can apply to convert your visa exempt entry into a Non-O visa at your local immigration office providing you meet the requirements. Generally you need to have a minimum of 15 days left on your current stamp (21 days in some places) and to have a minimum of 800k baht in a Thai bank account in your name, many offices require this to show as having been transferred from overseas

But the Catch 22 is you can’t open the bank account on a 60 day visa exemption.

But if you lie and they find out somehow, it won’t look good.🙄

I’m not going to stuff around I’m going in straight down the line, and if I have to pay taxes we’ll let it be.. Australia is bloody killing me.. 😂 as a up and coming retiree.. the government just make it so hard to live a bloody uncomplicated life in retirement.

I was a late starter in life was a bit of a good..! Rat bag.. 😂

But any way new beginning on there way.. cheers.

No, you cannot apply online using evisa while in Thailand. You must leave Thailand, go to a country where the Thai embassy accepts visa applications from non-residents, and apply through the Thai embassy where you PHYSICALLY are. The application specifically asks for your CURRENT PHYSICAL LOCATION. One of the questions in the application also asks for proof of your current location. And the application states you must remain in that country until your visa application is processed.

Penang is the current most popular place for retirement visa applications, as long as you meet the financial requirements.

I know Laos is fast for DTV visas. Not sure about non-O. Normally apply online, go ASAP To pay at the embassy, then a few days later the visa is issued.
