Dear friends,

Is it possible to enter Thailand with a tourist visa first and then change my visa into Ed visa (internship visa) in BKK? As it is not allowed to enter Thailand with an internship visa at the present stage.

Cheers in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is inquiring about the possibility of entering Thailand on a tourist visa and subsequently converting it to an Ed (internship) visa in Bangkok, since entering Thailand directly with an internship visa is currently not permitted. Community comments suggest contacting the internship sponsor for clarification, that applying for an Ed visa after entry is feasible based on personal experiences, and they discuss the implications of nationality on the visa status.

You can apply for ED visa. I entered the country like this and had no problem with embassy or immigration. 😉

Are you Chinese? AND were you entering for the purpose of doing an internship?

oh I didn't see he was Chinese, my bad. I did entered for the purpose of doing an internship which means Thai embassy does deliver ED visa (if internship is necessary for studies).

You better contact the sponsor of the internship (and have them talk to the local immigration office) if you really can apply for an in-country visa for that purpose.

I read somewhere of such process but can’t recall where 🙂

It is now possible to enter Thailand with an ED visa for the purposes of a mandatory internship.

I want to confirm something. Is your passport from China, or are you currently in China.

That'll make a big difference.
