Hello, can you advice me on something ?

I have an ED visa and I will finish my internship at the end of the month. My Ed visa will finish in 1 months but I want to stay to travel until mid of august.

Can I ask for a tourist visa? What are the paper that I need for that? (It’s not clear on internet)

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has an Educational (ED) visa expiring soon and seeks to stay in Thailand until mid-August to travel. They inquire about the possibility of obtaining a tourist visa and the documents required for that process. Comments provide insights that a tourist visa cannot be acquired while in Thailand, and suggest the potential option of a 60-day extension due to travel restrictions related to COVID-19.

You cannot get a tourist visa in Thailand. You may be able to apply for a 60days extension unable to travel due to Covid situation.

If your company/ school extends your 90 day ED visa, they would expect you to continue working.

If you look at your ED visa, I'm almost positive there's a university name on the ED visa though (may be written in Thai) . I wouldn't plan that your company can extend your ED visa.

do you think that we can do in sriracha instead of Bangkok ?

Check with Siracha immigration office for required documents and their policy for Covid extension starting date.

Most Immigration offices give your FIRST covid extension starting on the day you apply for, not add to your current stamp.

as long as you can provide the necessary documents, you can apply for a Covid extension at Siracha Immigration office.

I would only go on the last week of your current stamp expiry, as the 60 days will likely be given from the day you apply, for instance apply today will get you to August 12th or so. Also keep in mind you might be given an under consideration stamp with a date to return in 2 weeks to 4 weeks to close out (add on the full 60)the extension. So be prepared to return to that office only.

okay thanks. I’m planning to leave the 9th of august so even if they give me 6 weeks starting from now it will be okay

Do you have a one year extension of stay based on studying ('the stamp") or a 90 day ED Visa ("the sticker") that's expiring?

You would go and get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 after your internship is over.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and ant to use their special forms). If you are going to use Bangkok Immigration, they are on the group in the Files section.

4. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy website saying they don’t issue the letters, OR a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport

- An appointment made before going to the immigration office (Required for Bangkok immigration).
