Can I use a 60 day visa and go to Vietnam and re-enter Thailand on the same 60 day visa
Answer summary
Yes, you can re-enter Thailand on a 60-day visa after visiting Vietnam, but you must obtain a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand. However, it's important to note that the re-entry permit does not extend your stay; you will re-enter with the same expiry date of your original visa. Additionally, starting September 15, the rules may change, and the 60-day visa may not be available anymore, transitioning instead to 30-day visa allowances.

If they will issue you a te entry permit but you’ll only get what time is left
Simon Sam you are OFF TOPIC. . . . . The OP has a single entry tourist visa and is asking if a re-entry permit will keep the 60-days stay permit alive and active when he exits Thailand and comes back for a re-entry.
Kevin, do you have a 60 day tourist visa that you received using the e-visa online system or did you get stamped in at the airport with a 60 day visa exempt entry?

Change of plan. I'm going away for 56 days. So I'm going to go on a 30 day. Then at some point go to Vietnam by plane. Come back on another 30 day. Will this work
Nigel Middleton You are totally off topic . . . . You cannot get a tourist visa on Immigration, and by the way, there is nothing such as a 30-days visa

Yuie Srihamat It is not only the amount of entries over land borders that is limited. You can't spend more than 150 days on visa-exemptions within a 12-18 months period, regardless how you entered
a re-entry permit, however, does not buy you any extra days. When you re-enter Thailand, you will be stamped in for the same stay-permit expiry date that you received on your first entry
