Hi,

I’m due to go to Thailand for about 10 days to see my kids. Then I’m going on a cruise which includes coming into Thailand for a few days and then finally after the cruise, coming into Thailand again for an overnight stay before flying home.

Should I get any hassle from immigration or should I get a multiple entry visa. The first 2 entries will be within 30 days and the last on the 31st day. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is planning multiple short stays in Thailand over a 10-day visit and a subsequent cruise, inquiring whether a multiple entry visa is necessary due to the timing of their entries. Responses suggest that, as a tourist with short stays, they shouldn't experience hassle from immigration and typically wouldn't require a multiple entry visa unless they exceed the allowed border crossings or specific visa rules.

You shouldn't have any problems. No need to get a multiple entry visa. Just one thing to keep in mind: the way you now presented the plan, you'd be using two land entries from that cruise. That's fine, but you can't then enter Thailand by land again later this year. The counter resets in January.

I always that "by sea" was a different category, but I don't really know.

really? I thought there were only two categories and the other is air. But if you say I got that wrong, well, the better :)

I don't know that you did - I googled it but lost interest. I have, in the past, consider border crossing and Koh Lipe and wondered if land rules applied.

They won't hassle you about the cruise stops. If you are flying in they won't hassle you. 2 land border crossings a year

It's more about how much time you spend in Thailand than it is about how many times you enter. It looks like you're a tourist doing tourist things, so you shouldn't have any issues.

totally backwards. They only care about how many times you cross. We have had to stay longer sometimes when we would have preferred to leave and come back

there's offshore workers that enter Thailand 1-2 times every month. But they only stay for a few days. They're clearly not trying to live here. It has nothing to do with how many times you enter, it has to do with if you're abusing the system trying to stay in Thailand long term.

not at airports, (unlike land boarders with a limit), airports are more interested in the pattern and length of stays.
