hi all,

UK passport holder, i am currently on a 6 month METV which expires in August. I want to convert to a year long ME Non-imm O based on being married to a Thai at Savannakhet. Do i need to cancel the METV first, or can i just roll up to the consulate with my paperwork and fees?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder with a 6-month METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) expiring in August is inquiring about converting to a year-long Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage to a Thai citizen. It appears that there is no direct conversion option; the individual can either finish their time in Thailand on the METV or travel to Savannakhet to apply for the Non-Immigrant O visa, which requires exiting Thailand to be processed.

You can wring out the time in country you have on the 6 month METV

OR

you can go to Savannakhet when ever you want to and buy a new year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O visa based on marriage for 5000baht.

, Ahhh, yep, makes sense (y)

You can indeed hold a work permit on a Non-O based on marriage so you'd be okay in that regard. :)

There is no such thing as a conversion, when you exit thailand you're stamped out.
