👋👋👋…. I have the metv it’s expiring soon, can I apply for a new one? Or would it be better to just leave and come back on a tourist visa ?? Thanks in advance
Answer summary
The user inquires about the possibility of applying for a new Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) before their current one expires or alternatively, whether they should leave Thailand and re-enter on a tourist visa. Responses suggest that although reapplying for an METV may be challenging if the Thai Immigration believes the user is using tourist visas for long-term stays, they could return on a tourist visa and potentially receive a 60-day stamp with an option for a 30-day extension. However, caution is advised regarding previous stay durations, as issues may arise at entry checkpoints.

the Thai embassy will most probably issue another METV, but if Thai Immigration concludes that you are using tourist visas for a longstay in Thailand, you will be refused entry evn when you hold a valid visa
You're not a typical tourist, so your chances of getting a visa are slim. Even if you're approved, you might still be denied entry due to your history.
If you leave and come back while METV is still active, you get 60 day stamp and can extend another 30 - even on last day of METV (although I wouldn't wait that long).
I don't believe you can get an METV inside Thailand and maybe not outside your home country. SETV I also believe you can't get inside Thailand, but can get from other than home country.
You guys act like it says it’s somewhere that you can’t apply for a new METV……. I know nothing is 100%. I just seen someone who has the DTV and was doing a 90 day and still got denied so a long-term visa a short-term visa is still having the same problem….. and I understand the DTV. I’m just not ready to go somewhere and stay where I don’t wanna be for 30 days while it is processing… and yes, someone said ask myself if this is tourist behavior I will say yes between finding the neighborhood you want to stay in or even the city understanding how to get around and the culture and getting kids in school that they would like you’re just not getting your feet planted on the ground at six months
You mean coming back on visa exemption. The metv is a tourist visa, and when you say you come back on a tourist visa it implies that you applied for a new tourist visa.
I never came in on a Visa on arrival. I came in on a METV I only been here for five months now I am asking if I leave can I come back and get a visa on arrival?
You said you have a tourist visa and then asked if you can apply for a new one, or if you should just leave and come back on a tourist visa? Which means you applied for a new one?
If you just had an METV, I'm not sure if an embassy is going to give you another one immediately. And you should be even more worried about passport control if you spend a good portion of those 6-9 months inside of Thailand. Even with another tourist visa, if you spent anywhere near 6 months in Thailand, you're probably going to encounter issues trying to return as a tourist.
