Could someone please advise. To cover the 65000 baht income requirement can you have a mixture of cash in the bank and income. For example 400000 in the bank and 32500 in income to comply. Many thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To meet the financial requirements for a Thai visa, you can use a combination of bank savings and monthly income, but the total must equal 800,000 baht per year if you're not using only monthly income. This means if you have 400,000 baht in the bank, you need to transfer at least 33,334 baht into your account each month to comply. Furthermore, the money should be in the bank at least 2 months prior to application and remain for another 3 months after applying.

sorry to have responded late, I read your topic again and finally noticed that your figures didn't equal 800K <- the amount you need for the combo method :)
, you need to understand that the 65K baht a month is ONLY if you are using monthly income as the ONLY way to meet the financial requirements.
IF you are trying to use the "combination method" (part banked money and part monthly income) you would have to hit 800K baht for the total for the year. SO if you have 400K baht in the bank you'd need to transfer in at least 33,334 baht every month so that the total would be 800K for the year.

or more has to be deposited every month. No averaging. And has to be from a foreign. Still unclear if they will take a partial year for the fist extension.

the O/P is actually asking about using the combination method (part banked money and part monthly income). they are not asking about how the monthly income only method works.

It is still in he Police Order, but we seen reports that some Immigration Offices do not allow this combination method. Best is to visit your Immigration Office bring the bank book and ask. As we seen in reports, the month with the less income in the last 12 months is taken as monthly income, multiplied by 12 and to complete to a minimum of 800.000 Thb the money must be in the bank at least 2 months prior application date till 3 months after application date and the rest of the year not less than half of that amount.
