I am currently on an extension of stay based on employment (from an original Non-B work visa) with a permitted to stay stamp until February 8th 2020. I am planning to get married to my Thai girlfriend and want to know, once married, if I can convert my current extension to a year-long extension based on marriage within the country (Bangkok)? Do you know what documents are required at Chaengwattana?

Also, do I need to do anything with my current employer as it relates to my work permit, etc? Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a Non-B work visa extension and is seeking to convert it to a marriage-based extension after marrying a Thai national. Comments suggest that it's possible to switch the reason for the extension without leaving the country, but the user needs to provide documentation from their employer acknowledging this change. Additionally, they must meet financial requirements and will still need to apply for a re-entry permit if they travel during the extension period.

Don't forget you need to meet the financial requirement

I will make a trip to CW to confirm the reqs. And just to confirm, when I switch to an extension based on marriage, it will be for 1 full year and I do not need to leave the country every 90 days?

But if during that year I do need to travel in and out I will still need to apply for a re-entry permit? Trying to navigate all of this...

There is no 'bounce out and back every 90 days" visa or extension available inside the country.

An extension based on marriage will be issued with a 30 days under consideration stamp FIRST, then you go back and get the year extension inked in and you do 90 day reports just like you've been doing them. It's not gonna re-set the 90 day reporting when you switch the reasons for an extension.

All you're going to do is switch the reason from your extension from one based on employment to one based on marriage.

You can wait until this extension is expiring OR you can do it when ever you want to after your'e married. You will need a letter from your company stating they know you are canceling your extension based on employment and applying for a new one based on marriage

There are over 70 immigration offices inside the country SO there is no "this is the list of what you need" that works at all of them.

Go with your thai wife to C/W and get the hand out listing the requirements for a yearly extension based on marriage.
