hi again

if I applying for the DTV in Ho Chi Ming - it seems you can only do an online application for the DTV or do I visit the emabssy in Ho Chi Ming? Sorry I am confused because why do people say it takes so many days waiting in Vietnam when you are doing it online. If you have to go there in person to the emabssy how to book an apointment?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for the DTV visa in Ho Chi Minh must be done online, and in-person appointments at the embassy are no longer accepted. While applications are submitted electronically, it is important to remain in Vietnam until your application is processed, as the embassy may contact you for an interview via the Evisa portal. Delays are common due to the volume of applications being reviewed.

You can only do online applications no matter where you are in the world. They stopped in person application at the start of this year. It takes a long time because there are a lot of applications to be reviewed by officers. You must physically be present in the country you apply and stay until approved. Basically because Thai consulates treat applications traditionally even though all communication and document transfer is electronic. They all require you to apply online from the physical location served by the consulate you want to apply through and they expect you to remain there until the process completes

ok - with the online application how do you add more than one document as proof. When loading them in to answer the questions it only allows one document

Baxter Pondsmyth Yep. If you want to apply via HCMC you have to be physically in a location served by that consulate, not just Vietnam as the locations are divided amongst the 2 consulates there. Then you need to stay there until you have the visa. Alternatively you could possibly apply using the consulate for where you currently are and wait there for the visa

Baxter Pondsmyth no you can't apply in Thailand and you have to wait until you are physically in HCMC to apply there. They do check this.

All applications worldwide are done online. If the embassy wants to conduct an interview they will call you in and notify you through the Evisa portal. Approvals are not guaranteed or immediate a human being has to go through your application.

why do people say they are waiting for approval and it takes so many days if it is online. Meaning cannot you not apply online and know where you are going to stay and then just travel there after approval from online?

Baxter Pondsmyth the approval takes time. Up to 2 months for some people.

It's not a "send an application and get your visa immediately"-system.

Baxter Pondsmyth - you are required to stay within the jurisdiction of the embassy. So if you are applying online via the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh, you have to stay in Cambodia until they issue you the visa
