How long does it take to apply for the DTV soft power visa and dependents' visas in Vietnam?

Hi fellow Thailand enthusiasts,

Apologies if this seems like a silly question, but I thought I’d ask. I’ll be applying for the DTV soft power visa for Thailand in Vietnam, Hanoi. My wife and our 6-month-old son will also apply as dependents under my visa.

As we prepare for the trip to Vietnam, we’re wondering if we need to stay by the embassy (to go in anytime) and how long we should plan to stay. I understand that I need to apply for my DTV first, and then I can apply for my wife and child’s dependent DTVs. However, I’m unsure about the processing times—would it take around 10 days for mine and then another 10 days for theirs, or could everything be processed simultaneously?

Has anyone here traveled as a family to Vietnam for this purpose? How long did the entire process take for you?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on the application process and timeline for the DTV soft power visa for themselves and their family while in Vietnam. They are specifically inquiring whether they need to stay by the embassy, how long they should plan to stay, and details regarding the processing times for their application and their dependents'. Community responses indicate that the user can apply for both their visa and their dependents' visas simultaneously, with some estimating a processing time of around five working days for both.

You can apply for you and dependents at the same time. For dependent, you just upload your portfolio and work related doc where the form asks to upload your main DTV holder’s stamp. I got mine and my wife’s dependent visa at the same time in Hanoi, took five working days.

It's 2 separate applications, once you have yours approved you apply for your wife as spouse and child as dependant, referencing your DTV visa number. Submit marriage documents for spouse and birth certificate for child. Also depending on your finances a sponsorship letter for the child and either a bank account balance in your wifes name or another sponsorship letter from you. Your wife and child only need to be in Vietnam when they apply, but I imagine you want your family together from the time you apply.
