TLDR : Answer Summary
The processing time for the DTV visa varies depending on the embassy where the application was submitted, with some processing in as little as 1-2 days while others may take 1-2 months. Additionally, once an application is submitted, it cannot be canceled or refunded.

do you know if I to be in Hong Kong at the time of application and apply using my Australian address would they accept to be be processed at Sydney Thai embassy or do I physically need to be in Australia

@Toni *******
- the evisa process asks you where you are physically located at the time of applying. Your application would go via that embassy. If you are in Hong Kong, it would be processed by the embassy in Hong Kong

will they accept my Australia address or would they want a Hong Kong address

I believe you need to show proof/evidence that you are in country. I applied in another country and used my lease as evidence, which does include my address

I am in Australia arriving in Thailand on Tuesday

But am going to Hong Kong for 2 weeks in sept was hoping to apply then Instead of waiting to December when I’m

Back in Australia for a month

The Hong Kong website says you need to be a resident of Hong Kong to apply via that embassy, but someone else emailed them and they told him he could apply through them. I believe you would upload your Hong Kong entry documents and hotel information as proof you are in Hong Kong. Not sure their turn around time through. Some embassies are processing very quick while others seem slower. There is a chance you might not have it in time for retuning to Thailand when leaving HongKong

Since you are technically in Australia right now, why not apply online via Australia today or tomorrow before you leave Australia?

my daughter is starting international school

So I have to go to Thailand Tuesday and enter in on visa exemption for 60 days

I could always leave Thailand once it’s approved then re enter on dtv? Do you think that would work

@Toni *******
there is also a visa option for parents of children attending international schools. That might be an option as well

if I applied for the DTV Monday it should be ok to fly to Thailand Tuesday and just go out to Hong Kong etc and come back once approved?
John *******
@Toni *******
don’t know if there is an answer. Ideally you would call the embassy and ask them, but prob no time. Test out the evisa system and see what information it supplies

the country I applied in.

you specifically chose a Thai embassy or consulate in the drop-down menu on your application. You selected either Canberra or Sydney. I can't tell you which one you chose.

I was wondering if any Australian passport holders have applied and received a DTV

And how long it took to process the application
Nippanut ***************
@Toni *******
10 business days they said. Just google
Brandon ************
The processing time is however long it takes the embassy you applied through to process it. Check with the embassy you're using. Some are 1-2 days, some are 1-2 months.

And some are 1-2 hours. I submitted mine via Vancouver embassy and was approved 2 hours later. Wife's DTV, dependent on mine, took 2 days.
