TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a Thailand tourist visa from a country that is not your home country is possible, but it varies based on the specific country and its Thai embassy’s policies. Some embassies only allow residents of that country to apply, while others accept applications from anyone present in the country. It's recommended to check the relevant embassy's website for specific rules. Experiences shared by users indicate that applying from English-speaking countries may yield quicker processing, and various countries, like South Korea and Laos, have been mentioned as places to successfully apply, although recent rule changes could affect processes.

Did so in Laos November 2025. However November 13 rule changes came out . Not aware if this was affected.

KL Embassy did before covid, but now, I couldn't say, you would have to check, it was easy then from Hua Hin as there was an Air Asia flight to KL from HH airport, but covid put a stop to that ! I do remember to get a Tourist visa there you apply on day 1 but do not get the passport back with new visa until day 2.

I am Canadian and did it in S Korea. It took the Seoul embassy 3 weeks to process my visa. Recommend do it from an English speaking country for faster service. I had already returned to Thailand 2 weeks prior to receiving my visa.

That depends on which country. The Thai embassy in some countries only allow residents of that country to apply for visas. While other Thai embassies accept applications from anyone that's physically in the country. You would want to check the embassy website to see what their policy is.

Japan: Thai Embassy Tokyo or Thai Consulate in Osaka, accept applications from anyone who has a proof of residency in Japan. A picture of Japan Alien ID card. Could be any nationality, I am Australian.

You have to stay in the country and Thai Embassy or Thai Consulate jurisdiction over the area where you applied from until the visa is approved.
