Can my boyfriend and I apply for a COVID extension in Bangkok if our TM30s are registered in Pattaya?

Hello!

Was hoping someone could help with a question RE the covid extension.

My boyfriend and I are going to try to get one last COVID extension before the deadline. I entered Thailand on a METV visa and got one COVID extension, and my boyfriend entered visa exempt a couple months ago and got the 30 days extension only.

We both have TM30’s registered in Pattaya, but do we need to get the COVID extension in Pattaya? It will be a new extension for both of us, not closing a stamp. We will be in Bangkok for the next week so it would be far easier for us to do it in Bangkok instead of Jomtien.

Thank you so much!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster inquired whether they could apply for a last COVID extension in Bangkok despite having their TM30s registered in Pattaya. Responses indicated that, typically, applicants should apply in the area corresponding to their TM30 registration. One commenter shared an experience of being denied extension applications at a different location than where they were registered. Another suggested it might be prudent to apply in Pattaya to avoid complications.

keep in mind that Bangkok is NOT issuing the 60 day covid extension on the spot, you get an under consideration stamp and then you go back to that same immigration office on that date and get the extension inked in.

Might be better for you two to just apply for the covid extension where you're staying (seeing as you have a TM30 filed in Pattaya) rather than needing to make another trip to bangkok to "close the loop" on an under consideration stamp

Last week a guy now staying in Bangkok was send away at immigration Bangkok because his previous Covid extention was from Phuket. They told him to reapply there. If you have a TM30 stating Pattaya and your previous extention was in Pattaya i guess you better go to Pattaya.

it appears that person didn't have a TM30 registered in Bangkok was the reason. They could have easily checked into a Bangkok hotel before heading to immigration.

You can apply now in Pattaya or next week when your new address is registerd in Bangkok.

But airports and land borders are open, have a plan B in case you do not get the Extension of Stay based on being unable to travel.

of course, we will have a plan B if needed. From my experience though Jomtien usually only lets you apply for extensions very very close to the deadline, though maybe they are more lenient for Covid extensions.

yes Jomtien asks you to apply for extension during the last week of your stamped stay.
