Is it possible for a US citizen to get a METV in Vientiane?
If so, do I need proof of $7000 in the bank, or just $700?
I read through some of the discussions on the SETV, which state that they don't ask for the typical "proof of's", but wasn't sure of the multiple entry availability and amount needed.
Is it possible to extend a METV for 30 days like the single entry?
Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen can potentially apply for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) in Vientiane, but specific criteria must be met. Primarily, if the applicant is not a permanent resident or citizen of Laos, obtaining an METV might be challenging. The requirements typically involve having proof of $7,000 held in a bank account for six consecutive months. The METV allows for 60 days of stay per entry, extendable by an additional 30 days. If one is not a PR or citizen of Laos, alternative locations such as Perth, Australia, may provide easier access to an METV.
You don't quite need to be a permanent resident in Laos. You just need a work visa there. I have got an METV this way. However by the sound of it you don't have that....?
I can only go off of the official recommendations for the METV not the clear as muddy water variants at all the Thai Consulates/Embassies located worldwide...
Yes and No...Yes if you are a Permanent Resident [PR], /or Citizen of Laos, then yes you can get the 6 Month METV, no if you are not either of the 2 I mentioned...the closest place that you can get a 6-month METV is in Perth Australia at the Thai Consulate; they do not require you to be either a PR or Citizen to get it....but you still have to have to check all the boxes and present all the necessary paperwork to get it....Good Luck
Thanks for answering my next question about where I could get a METV before I even asked. I appreciate your help. Looks like I'll be sticking to the SETV.
The METV works different. On each entry you get 60 days of stay, each entry can be extended with 30 days, you can enter until the last day of enter before or valid until date on the visa.
