Hello. I am interested in heading to Laos to apply for a 3 month visa. Would anyone happen to have any updated information on how it works? How long it takes to receive and how much it costs etc. Thank you so much in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry concerns the process of applying for a 3-month visa in Laos, with requests for updated information on costs and processing times. A comment emphasized checking the embassy's official website for specific requirements, noting that applications for a 3-month METV visa are limited to residents of Laos. Another user shared their experience of applying for a single entry tourist visa, which took about 3 days and cost 1,000 baht, advising to book an appointment in advance due to high demand.

You went, applied and 3 days later they gave you 90 days or 60?
60 day tourist visa, 90 days if you’re approved for the 30 day extension. Also, if you’re crossing by land to get back into Thailand after, make sure they give you the right stamp. The officer didn’t see the tourist visa sticker I got (it was on the very last page of my passport) so he have me the visa exemption visa instead. I have to go back to Chiang mai immigration to get the visas converted. But that was an error on my part since I didn’t check the stamp before I left since I was rushing to get to the train.
the extension itself isn’t 90 days but 30 days (add that to the initial 60 days given and it totals to 90). The approval is just filling out the application and paying the 1,900 extension fee. Unless you’re a serial border runner or tourist visa user (they want long term visas if you plan to stay in Thailand for an extended period of time) then you should be approved. But it’s up to the discretion of the officer. I always try to get to the immigration office first thing in the morning so I can increase my chances of coming across an officer in a good mood and decrease the time it takes for me to get approval (fastest was 30 minutes, longest 2 hours because it got very busy).
the date on the visa is the date you had to enter Thailand by to use the visa. One you entered Thailand your visa means nothing anymore. It's been used already.
The entry stamp in your passport is your permission to stay in Thailand.
ah okay noted. How do you get approved for 90 day extension? Plus the 30 day extension in chaing mai?

You can only apply for a 3-month METV if you’re a residence of Laos (I recently applied for a single entry at the Thai embassy in Laos and was going to go this route but couldn’t because of that requirement). It took around 3 days and 1,000 baht for them to give me a single entry tourist visa. Just make sure you book an appointment well in advance, they fill up very quickly and you can’t enter the embassy without an appointment. Good luck with everything!
no problem and yes, 5 days is the safest bet just in case things don’t go according to plan. I would also recommend staying at the Hide:Seek hostel too. Breakfast included and it’s literally right around the corner from the embassy so it makes things very convenient.

This is the 3rd post asking a question like this in the last day.
CHECK THE EMBASSY WEBSITE
Why are you asking Facebook? Look at the official information. Find the embassy you want to use and go on their website. The specific requirements for that embassy and that visa will be there. It will also tell you how long processing takes and if you need an appointment (hint: you do)
as a repository of information that can easily be found by scrolling back or using the search feature. That's how I always used it before making I determined what I needed to know wasn't available already and then make my own post.
be fully aware that you must have an appointment at the embassy, or counselate in order to apply in Laos. There are no walk-ins allowed anymore. That is the first step, and from my understanding appointments are all booked up for about a month in advance.
