Is it possible to convert a non immigrant OA visa to a tourist visa. My OA finishing soon but only need one month extension so don't want to get another one year extension? Thanks for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A non-immigrant OA visa cannot be converted to a tourist visa while in the country. However, there's a possibility to apply for a 'unable to travel due to Covid' extension if done before September 27, which grants an additional 60 days. It's advised to check the extension's availability close to the deadline and consider the option of applying for a one-year extension if planning to return next year.

Thanks guys. So when my OA expires just ask them for an unable to travel extension visa for a month? Gives me the extra month I need without all the hassle if getting another O or OA visa!?

we won’t know if they will extend the date after 27th September until maybe the day or so before so you’ll just have to wait and see. It’s likely they will as borders are still closed, but no guarantee.

No it’s not possible to get a tourist visa in country. You should however be able to apply for the “unable to travel due to Covid “ extension if applying before 27th September. That would give you 60 days.

yes. Depending where you apply you may get a “under consideration” stamp for anywhere between 5-14 days where you have to return and get the remaining 60 days stamped.
