Can you convert an OA Visa to an O visa? Insurance requirements are much less for an O visa. I have had 800000 in Bangkok bank for a couple years. I lost my O Visa when I had to get OA visa to return from US last November.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the possibility of converting an OA Visa to an O Visa. The consensus is that one typically cannot convert directly without leaving the country. Some participants suggest taking the necessary steps to apply for an O Visa after exiting Thailand. Others mention experiences of successfully obtaining an O Visa without leaving the country, implying that it may depend on individual circumstances. Caution is advised regarding agents who claim to expedite the process, and some recommend handling the application independently.

A Kiwi friend of mine did it last September with no fuss and did not have to leave Thailand.

He did it all himself, its not too onerous almost exactly the same information that I had to supply for renewing my own O "retirement" visa. I would suggest you go into your nearest ID office and ask one of their volunteer interpreters to walk you through it all?
Beware of agents claiming they can "fix it". Perhaps some can, but you'll be stuck on the visa merry-go-round forever and a day, paying 35,000+ every year. You'll get a half-decent insurance for cheaper than that, and when land borders do open again, you do an out/in and apply for your own O visa for 1900 baht!
