ORIGINAL POSTERI am travelling on a repatriation flight on 13th from Chennai India to BKK on a O/A visa The consulate issued a 3 month visa ans said this can be extended in Thailand?. When I 1st contacted them I was told it would be 1 year visa. Also while handing over the packet i could see how inexperienced they were in the sense we were called at 4 30 PM and started issuing at 7 30 PM and it was chaos. Will this be extended in Chiang Mai or converted to a O Retirement visa? Expert advice would be welocomed Thanks

A same case in France some days ago, if you want a one year visa, you must ask for a 1 year covid insurance else you had only a 3 months visa according to the 3 months covid insurancePradeep ******

I think the immigration offices in Bangkok will just process it as normal, and will require the same documents as a one year Non-OA visa. Pradeep ******

Wow, indeed correct ! Never seen nor heard of it. Well that makes it ever harder in the future for you mods to find out what visa someone has 🤨, pff. 'Chokdee' I would say.

What that means is they have 3 months from the date the visa was issued to ENTER thailand. When they stamp in they will get stamped in for as long as their insurance is good for (up to a year). The second they stamp in that visa is used and they'll need to apply for a yearly extension by meeting the financial & insurance requirements when their entry stamp runs out.

Before this covid shit show started Non-Immigrant Type O-A visas used to be issued two ways, one was a single entry and one was a multiple entry BUT both were valid for a year from the date they were issued (not that it was all that important for the single entry once because you could only get in once on it :/)

When you come in you will get stamped in for a year (OR as long as your O-A health insurance is valid for up to one year).
You cannot convert an O-A entry stamp to an O visa inside the country. That means when it's time to apply for a yearly extension you will need to meet the proof of funds and the O-A insurance requirements.
Can you blank out your personal data and post an image of that O-A visa sticker?
When you come in you will get stamped in for a year (OR as long as your O-A health insurance is valid for up to one year).
