Hi everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ

Iโ€™m travelling to Thailand (from Bulgaria) in a week, my tourist visa is still pending though.

Can someone tell me if I can take Visa on arrival for 15 days and then apply for an extension? (I know that last year it was not possible but Iโ€™m wondering if there is any change)

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The traveler from Bulgaria inquired about the possibility of entering Thailand with a visa on arrival (VOA) for 15 days and subsequently applying for an extension. The responses clarified that while a 15-day VOA can be obtained upon arrival for a fee of 2000 baht, it cannot be extended. There's only a limited option for a 7-day extension in case of a pending application for an extension, but this is not a standard extension process. If the tourist visa gets approved later, the traveler could exit and re-enter Thailand to activate the tourist visa for 60 days.

they can get ONE 7 day "application for extension not approved" extension that gives them a week to get out of the country for 1900baht

ok but my Romanian friends 4 months ago were told no voa extensions unless they were ill or couldnt travel

right, it's NOT an extension it's an "application for extension not approved" and it gives you 7 days from the date you apply to get out of the country.

Bummer they were told that but they certainly could have gotten that 7 day get out of dodge stamp for 1900baht

You can buy a 15 day visa on arrival when you land here for 2000baht.

You can be asked to show proof of 10K baht or the equivalent in CASH, proof of onward travel in 15 days and proof of lodging.

The only extension you can get on that VOA is a 7 day 'application for extension not approved' which would get you a week to get out of thailand

IF your tourist visa gets approved after you're here, you could exit/re-enter the country on the tourist visa and you'll get the 60 days

I know but you know as well as I that many people talk about VOA in error for visa exemption. I wasn't aware that Bulgarian passport qualified for VOA. ๐Ÿ™
