Hello, does anyone know how we can renew a visa of a relative who arrived on a 45 day visa? Can this still be done with the current context? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a 45-day visa in Thailand, the relative should visit the Muang Thong Thani immigration office for a 30-day extension, which can usually be issued on the spot. It's essential to go before the visa expiration date, and the process is not a renewal but rather an extension of stay. Alternatively, if they entered on a different visa type, they might need to go to the Chaengwattana office.

you need to start answering questions that people are asking you in order to get the right answers (asking MORE questions before you give us the answers isn't gonna be all that helpful :( )

BE that as it may I'll try to answer the questions you've asked

IF your relative came into the country on a tourist VISA <- that they BOUGHT from a thai consulate before they came here and got stamped in for 60 days, they go to Chaengwattana to get their 30 day extension <- it will be issued on the spot and it will be added to the expiration date they have now

IF your relative came into the country without having bought any visa before they arrived and were stamped in for 45 days they go to Muang Thong Thani to get their 30 day extension <- itl will be issued on the spot and it will be added to the expiration date they have now.

Thank you. So does he need to go to the immigration office? I think it would be Chang Wattana? Are they open? How far before it expires would he need to go ? thank you

How long does it take? Will he leave with the new visa extension? Does the extension begin from that day or from the day his ends?

yes, the applicant needs to go to the immigration office in person to apply for an extension of stay.

Did he enter on visa-exempt and stamped for 45days upon entry to Thailand? Means he didn't purchase a real visa at the Thai consulate before flew into Thailand?

If so, he has to go to MuangThongThani immigration temporary office. They are open as usual.

He can apply for his extension when he has 45days or less on his current stamp.

You will not renew a visa, but you will get an extension of stay. In most immigration offices, you’ll get a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism.

Which immigration office will be used?
