Are there any Canadians here who successfully used affidavit from the embassy to apply for Non-O (90 days visa) from within Thailand? Did you have to have pension income necessary? My husband doesn't have pension but has payroll of more than 100 k BAHT and wondering if this would be good enough? Thanks everyone for your input!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether a Canadian expat can successfully apply for a Non-O visa from within Thailand using an affidavit from the Canadian embassy, particularly when not having a pension. One commenter mentions meeting the income requirements with payroll over 100,000 Baht per month, which seems to be acceptable, as the emphasis is on proving regular income instead of strictly needing a pension. Eligibility for the Non-O visa largely depends on the husband's income situation and meeting the age requirement of over 50.

If your husband is working in Thailand he should have a non-b visa and you should be able to get a trailing spouse Non-O visa matching him. Or have I misunderstood the question?

he will not be working in Thailand. He has a company in Canada, therefore he has monthly income from it which will continue even after he moves to Thailand.

ok it was your reference to Thai baht that confused. Basically if he can prove his income to the Canadian embassy in Bangkok it's fine. It's more about regular income than actual pension as I understand it

thanks John! Will do that!

I went the affidavit route to verify CDN pension income that meets the 65K/month threshold when applying for a non-O retirement from within Thailand (Chiang Mai).

My husband is over 50 and has monthly income payroll, but no retirement pension. Will that be good enough?

as long as he can prove his income source to the Canadian Embassy he will be fine.
