Hi

I am Canadian 63 years of age.I will be in Thailand next month on 60 days tourist visa. When in Thailand I will contact Canadian consulate in Bangkok to apply for affidavit of income to use to prove my income to Thai immigration in order to get non-0 retirement visa. After receiving affidavit of income, does it mean that I do not need 800K in Thai bank and further I do not need to show transfers of 65K on monthly basses?

Tod,Ellie,Stuart and others I value your opinion.

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual inquired about the necessity of having 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account while applying for a Non-O retirement visa, given that they will obtain an affidavit of income from the Canadian consulate. Community responses confirmed that if the individual's home country allows for such affidavits to serve as proof of income, they would not require the substantial bank balance or monthly transfers typically necessary.

I have been using the Canadian Affidavit for 15 years now. Have copies of your T4 slips to show them proof of income. The letter they give you is good for 6 months. The fee is $50 Canadian.

Can you confirm you still require Thai health insurance coverage for this scenario?

Insurance was never needed for an in-country visa application.

No you do not need insurance for the above scenario. Insurance is needed for non O-A or non O visa obtained in Canada.

you are correct, IF you come from a country whose embassy here still issues the income from abroad affidavit notary you DO NOT need to bank money here or transfer money in. That notary paper from your embassy meets the proof of funds requirements
