Hello everyone 🙏🏼 I arrive in Thailand April 3 on a 60 days TR visa(single entry) Canadian Passport.

I turn 50 April 29.. my question is do I wait till after I turn 50 to apply for Non O, 90 day Visa or can I apply for this before and then apply for my Year extension after min 45 days left…. My 800,000 baht requirement has been completed ✔️ today so that ready to go🤗. Also do I need a financial letter from my bank(Bangkok bank) showing $$ the kind that takes a week, or is an updated bank book on the same day I apply good enough? (Chiangmai office)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the application process for a Non-O visa as they approach their 50th birthday while in Thailand on a 60-day TR visa. Responses indicate that the applicant must be 50 years old at the time of the visa application and suggest waiting until that age to apply. They are also informed that, as a Canadian, they can use an Affidavit of Income from the Canadian Embassy instead of needing the 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account. Additional advice includes checking local immigration requirements and timing their applications carefully.

ya gotta wait until you turn 50

You are required to be 50 years old as of application day.

This is the 'general' requirements list for an in-country initial Non-O visa based on being over 50 by HQ Immigration bureau. You have to go to the local immigration office to get their latest handout of requirements when you are in Thailand.

so May 1 I could apply for the 90days or is this too soon?

, yes, you can apply for an initial Non-O visa based on being over 50 as early as May 1 no problem. after that, be careful with counting the days. Chiangmai office has a minimum 15 WORKING days remaining policy for in-country visa application.

BTW as a Canadian you are NOT REQUIRED to have the 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your name only.

As the Canada Embassy in Bangkok does offer an Affidavit of Income needed to get the retirement Visa and One year extension of stay at Thai Immigration office.

ASK your EMBASSY in Bangkok how to get the Affidavit of Income if you wish to use it with your application to the Thai Immigration office.

You must be age 50+ to apply for the Non O Visa as retiree and the One year extension of stay as retired.

You will arrive into Thailand on the Thai Tourist Visa and be stamped in for 60 days.

And you will have a 30 day extension of stay available to you.

Suggest you stop by the local Thai Immigration office where you will be living and ask them for their list of requirements for the Non O Visa as retiree and the One year extension of stay as retired.

You can choose the timing of your application after you turn age 50+.

Take in consideration your renewal date the following year. As you want to be sure your planning on being in Thailand at that time to renew.

These are the common found requirements for the One year extension of stay as retired...

always best to check with the local immigration office. However, in Jomtien they gave me the form listing requirements as the same to convert to Non-O either from a tourist visa or visa exempt entry. The difference was which form to use TM86 (w/visa) or TM87 (w/visa exempt stamp)

he can get the Non O Visa as retiree from his local Thai Immigration office. That's WHY I suggested that he visit the local Thai Immigration office and ask for their list of requirements for it and the One year extension of stay as retired.
