Dear Canadians friends,

I'm having 2 questions:

1. Is it possible to apply for a Non-O (retirement purpose) for a Canadian citizen? The Ottawa website only specify visiting family

2. is it possible to get an official Declaration of Revenue aka Affidavit form the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok or the Consulate in Chiang Mai or Phuket.

Thanks for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation confirms that a Canadian citizen can indeed apply for a Non-O visa for retirement purposes, even if the Ottawa website primarily mentions family visits. It is also possible to obtain an official Declaration of Revenue (Affidavit) at the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok or consulates in Chiang Mai or Phuket. The responses suggest various pathways for applying for the Non-O visa, including applying online from Canada or entering Thailand on a Visa Exemption, which grants a 45-day stay with an option to extend. It also highlights the process of obtaining the necessary affidavit from the embassy to meet the financial requirements for the visa.

canada DOES provide the affidavit of income from abroad. You can apply for the 90 day Non-O visa based on retirement ONLINE ONLY in Canada

you want this choice

That gives them the 90 day Non-O visa, they get stamped in for 90 days when they show up, when they have 30 days or less they can get the income affidavt from the canuck embassy by email here to meet the financial requirements to get a year extension.

OR they show up visa exempt get stamped in for 45 days, get the income affidavit from the canuck embassy and apply FIRST for the 90 day Non-O in country and then once they get that and have 30 days or less left on it they apply for the year extension.

Either way works just fine. getting the Non-O before they come cuts two visits to immigrations out of the process (applying for the Non-O and going back to get it inked into their passport after 2 weeks)

Simple answer to both of your questions is YES.

Contact the Thai passport in Canada for the visa requirements

Or

BETTER yet...enter Thailand Visa EXEMPT on arrival...gets you 45 days stamp plus One 30 Day extension of stay at Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

That gives you plenty of time to get your affidavit of income from your Embassy in Bangkok...

AND apply for the Non O Visa as retiree and the One year extension of stay as retired.

, thanks, I've sent an email to the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok and the Thai Embassy in Vancouver, as their websites are not clear regarding my 2 specific questions. Still waiting to get their answers.

Was wondering on getting a non-O in Canada as cheaper than converting an Exemption into a Retirement extension (Samui Immigration Office)

And I'm aware that some Embassies do NOT provide affidavit, hence my question specifically for Canadians.

Keep it Simple...

DO as I suggested...

Forget about getting any Thai Visa before you come to Thailand.
