What documents do I need to apply for a COVID extension in Thailand after my work permit has been cancelled?

Hi all,

Now I am in bkk. My work visa expiry date is 5th July. My former employer cancelled my work permit on 6th May. I got the new job but it starts from the end of June. I was notified that I have to cancelled the old work visa and then apply the covid extension for 60 days or 30 days(?), before my new company helps me to apply the new work visa and the work permit.

I need some help with applying covid extension. I haven't done it before, so I am not really sure what kind of documents should I prepare for (I only know it requires the letter from the embassy, 2 photos, every pages of passport, the paper of I have been cancelled the wp, and 1900B) and what else?

The other question is because the work permit has been cancelled, do I need to pay overstay? I heard some people said I have to pay 500B for each day, since my work permit has been cancelled.

Does anyone have any answer or advice? Thank you very much!🙂

, As the moderator mentioned above, you need to go to the immigration office to apply for a cancellation current (old) extension and apply for Covid one as soon as possible if all of your stories are accurate.

BUT you may need a letter from your employer about your contract termination and might need a copy of the receipt of your work permit cancellation. Better to act immediately.

The COVID application is simple...

Hope you have had a TM30 address filed with Thai immigration as they may check to see if you have a TM 30 on file.

The COVID extension is simple to get.

Process is easy to get a COVID extension of stay.

You will need:

1. Your passport and a copy of..

a. The data (“picture “) page

b. Your entry stamp

c. Your visa (if you entered on a visa)

d. Copy of your departure card TM6

2. A copy of the TM30 submitted for your immigration office

3. 1 passport pictures

4. 1,900 Thai baht

5. Your signature on a form that you are aware of overstay fines.

thank you very much. Yes, I have TM 30.

But I still have some follow up question. Now the covid extension no need the letter from the embassy?

And if I I got the covid extension, will affect my new job to apply the new work visa and work permit?

, IF your embassy issues the letter, you would need it. If they don't, you may not need it.

If you can apply for a new visa/extension and work permit inside Thailand or not depends more on your new employer.

Covid extension would not affect your situation (at least not much). BUT if your overstay situation (if you really are) is getting grow, it might affect you more.

If your employer indeed did cancel your work permit on May 6th...

And you have not informed Thai immigration... Then you are now on OVERSTAY...with a fine of 500 Thai baht per day.

Go to Thai immigration ASAP...be prepared to pay the fine ...

and make application for the COVID 60 day extension ...1,900 Thai baht fee for it.

thanks.

Do you know which immigration should I go?

I normally go to the immigration at Lak Si for any visa problem. But last time I did 90 days report and I went to another place ( at Nonthaburi). They said it's temporary Thai immigration for 90 days and visa extension. So for cancelling visa I go to Lak Si and covid extension go to Nonthaburi? I can use some advice, thank you.

Did you personally cancel your work permit at the Thai Labor Ministry ?

When you cancelled it did you go to Thai immigration and inform them that you had stopped working and your work permit has been cancelled?

If you did not then you need to go to Thai immigration and tell them your stopped working... Did your employer give you a letter about your end date of work with them?

1. No my company did it by themselves.

2.no

3.no, but I will go get it. Because there are some miscommunication, the HR cancelled my wp earlier and didn't tell me.
