Is the Thai Elite Visa worth the cost given recent price increases?

Yet the LTR is just 50k for 10 years with far better benefits (tax free status etc) . I would be regretting getting the Elite.

If you use them on a 'can't be arsed' basis, ie you qualify anyway fine, but once you start using their cash, understand your stay here is based on a pack of fragile cards.

Where? Money laundering rules have made it impossible, name a country where you can walk into a branch and without any proof of who you are, open a bank account......

Is the Thai Elite Visa worth the cost given recent price increases?

Yep but not so sure, if you can show you have, for example, £5m, in a bank account, it means nothing to them, but show them you earn just £80k a year, (because you need to work) and thats a green light. I'm assuming that's why their initial target of 1 million LTR take ups, is currently floundering at, I was told, a paltry 5000.

split - oh look again like every other country on the planet. Apart from in Thailand the courts are kinder on the male than they are in the West by a very long way

Having lived in Thailand many years I would recommend the following :- ignore everything Peter Edgworth and his bar stool muppets tell you. He's just one of the few that couldn't hack it

Why is it difficult to open a Thai bank account without a visa?

Theres not a country on the planet (perhaps not incl Africa) that you could just walk in and open a bank account without solid proof of who you are. The fines for laundering can run into the billions!
