Thanks for the encouragement, haha. People may just be going the proven route because they don't want to risk rejection. It's just safer to go the route used by everyone. Also, the consulate allows you to add documents if your case is insufficient. Also, I think the requirements for number of months of bank statements really varies according to the strength of other factors of your case. If your application is already very strong, you may not need as many months of statements.

Just to update, I actually did find a case of someone who only provided ONE individual bank statement below. A Canadian business owner only provided the most recent bank account, not 6 months. However, also provided brokerage accounts with the minimum 500K and tax returns. This was in Vientiane

I just haven't seen any cases from salaried employees who tried to provide tax returns/pay slips. Freelancers and business owners don't usually get payslips, so they wouldn't be able to provide them anyway.

Just wondering, where did they not accept your brokerage account?

Yes, the thing is most of the applications are from business owners and freelancers, who don't receive payslips like salaried employees. I think the bank account is the easiest way to demonstrate fund. I am just trying to find out that this is not really the requirement but it's just a rumor that got started that you need 500K baht in a bank account. This is just the easiest way to demonstrate the funds, but doesn't rule out other possibilites.

I'm just seeking clarification. The requirements for "500K liquid" are not specifially stated in the official documentation. This is requirement that is enforced variably by consulate. Also, another point is that a lot of people who are applying are freelances or business owners, with variable income. The 500K liquid bank account requirement may be being used just to determine stable financial status. Also, the document says there that pay slips can be used, and there is no indication that bank statements are preferred over pay slips.

Surely they are not expecting applicants to research social media for requirements. If their own official documents say that 500K can be demonstrated with paystubs, why should we know any different?

Yes, I've seen solely online reports reporting a requirement of 500K baht liquid, but the official page of this embassy, for example, does not say this )
