Can you use payslips to demonstrate the 500K baht financial requirement for a visa in Thailand?

I see that the 500K baht minimum can be reached through pay slips. However, most people are using bank account statements, perhaps because this is the most straightforward way to present financial data. If you have a regular salaried income, can you present 500K this way? If so, over what time period must the 500K be received?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To fulfill the 500K baht financial requirement for certain visa applications in Thailand, it is necessary to provide proof of the amount in a personal bank account. While some expats express interest in using payslips as evidence of regular income, the consensus indicates that only current bank statements will be accepted by consulates. Requirements may vary by embassy, with most requesting bank statements from 1 to 6 months. It is emphasized that actual cash in a bank account is crucial, and showing payslips alone may not suffice.

Those are two separate requirements.... 500k baht equivalent in a bank account AND show that you are receiving pay/salary etc . The pay doesn't have to equal 500k, they just want to see that you're truly a remote worker, getting paid and can support your living costs while in Thailand

You need to show 500k in a personal bank account. Period.

You need 500k at the tome of application. You can not show 10 payslips of monthly income of 50k for example. It is not like the O Retirment Extension where you can show income instead of the 800k. There is no income requirement for the DTV

From my experience, you do need to have 500K in the your bank account. Whether it’s online bank like Wise or legitimate bank. Each consulate ask for 1 month - 6 month bank statement depending on their requirements. I personally got asked to open my Krungthai bank app to show 500K is present in my bank app at the counter while submitting the applications. (My 500K was deposited only 2 days before)

If you do think you are able to use only payslips of 500K instead of an actual bank statement.

Please do, and let us know the result of your application.

I would love to see the outcome.

I personally would just go the simple way as it has worked for everyone else. $350 is quite a payment for me to waste on an experiment for me 😅 you either have 500K or you don’t 😅 borrow family if you have to.

please try your way and update us the outcome.

Thanks for the encouragement, haha. People may just be going the proven route because they don't want to risk rejection. It's just safer to go the route used by everyone. Also, the consulate allows you to add documents if your case is insufficient. Also, I think the requirements for number of months of bank statements really varies according to the strength of other factors of your case. If your application is already very strong, you may not need as many months of statements.

Anonymous participant exactly. Each embassies have slightly different requirements.

My application was around 60-65 pages total. I organized every pages according to their requirements.

Show 500K on my app.

And that was it.

I still do think they need to see your actual cash in the bank, that’s the only way to prove that you can take care of yourself while living in Thailand. This is the same standards for every visas in every countries I have applied my entire life. Payslips are just to prove that you do have an income deposit into your funds monthly.

If you have payslips but no cash in your bank account. I still think they will not accept your application 😅

Just to update, I actually did find a case of someone who only provided ONE individual bank statement below. A Canadian business owner only provided the most recent bank account, not 6 months. However, also provided brokerage accounts with the minimum 500K and tax returns. This was in Vientiane

Pay slips generally aren't required. You need 500K deposited into your bank account. For most consulates, it's fine to have that recently deposited or transferred. For Laos and Malaysia, it needs to be at least 3 months (I don't know whether anything changes with respect to Malaysia now that they're on the e-visa system).

Yes, the thing is most of the applications are from business owners and freelancers, who don't receive payslips like salaried employees. I think the bank account is the easiest way to demonstrate fund. I am just trying to find out that this is not really the requirement but it's just a rumor that got started that you need 500K baht in a bank account. This is just the easiest way to demonstrate the funds, but doesn't rule out other possibilites.
Paul *******
Anonymous participant No, it's not a rumor. Everyone needs 500K in their account no matter where they apply. Supplying pay slips or tax returns is either a rumor or something some applicants have been asked for at a small number of consulates in western countries only.

I just haven't seen any cases from salaried employees who tried to provide tax returns/pay slips. Freelancers and business owners don't usually get payslips, so they wouldn't be able to provide them anyway.
Paul *******
Anonymous participant I haven't either. Generally speaking, when it comes to freelancers/business owners, you could provide a couple of invoices and show the incoming transfer on a bank statement. Nothing much more than that is asked for.
Danny *******
You have to show that you currently have the equivalent of 500k baht in your bank account. Each embassy/consulate has different requirements for how many months of bank statements must be shown. It ranges from 1-6 months.

Surely they are not expecting applicants to research social media for requirements. If their own official documents say that 500K can be demonstrated with paystubs, why should we know any different?
Karl *********
Anonymous participant you need to demonstrate that you’ve had the funds for 6 months and still do. Your payslips wouldn’t state that.
Danny *******
Anonymous participant not sure how payslips can prove that you currently have 500k liquid. Seems that would only show that you've received that amount from your employer, but not actually saved that much. I can see how that graphic is a bit confusing though.

I'm just seeking clarification. The requirements for "500K liquid" are not specifially stated in the official documentation. This is requirement that is enforced variably by consulate. Also, another point is that a lot of people who are applying are freelances or business owners, with variable income. The 500K liquid bank account requirement may be being used just to determine stable financial status. Also, the document says there that pay slips can be used, and there is no indication that bank statements are preferred over pay slips.
Danny *******
Anonymous participant financial evidence of no less than 500k means show that you have 500k. I follow various visa groups pretty closely and I haven't seen anyone receive a DTV without proving that they currently have at least 500k in their bank account. When I applied, I provided a brokerage statement showing more than 500k, but they didn't accept it. They said I needed to show the money in a chequing or savings account.

Just wondering, where did they not accept your brokerage account?
Danny *******
Anonymous participant in Ottawa. I applied back in July before I came to Thailand.

Anonymous participant You just need to do a search in this group “Vientiane” you can try if you want, but Vientiane is getting more strict.. I’m in Taipei right now for that reason. (Funds not in my bank long enough for Vientiane according to other stories on here.)

Yes, I've seen solely online reports reporting a requirement of 500K baht liquid, but the official page of this embassy, for example, does not say this )

Anonymous participant it's an infographic, it doesn't need to be exactly accurate. It's completely up to the embassy what they will deem acceptable.
