With people being turned around by immigration, I got paranoid. So thought I'd get a multiple entry visa because I want to spend Xmas in thailand with thai friends. Firstly the requirements are to have proof of flight then apply for visa. This I did, then fill in the forms correctly, without screen shots. Now I'm still waiting for a visa number a week later and my flight is a few days away, I've paid my £150 for the visa,I've tried email and phoning the embassy without any response from them. The system is terrible, it's more like a scam. I don't think the visa I've paid for will come through and now I risk being refused entry by some jumped up immigration officer because I spent last Xmas and new year in thailand and Laos, if I'm refused, then I lose the money I spent on the flight plus I'll have to buy another flight. I'll also lose the money I've paid for hotel accommodation. Does thailand expect a tourist can see the whole of the country in 60 days,I've been going on and off for the past 25 years, normally for a month at a time, 2 or 3 times a year. I'm a poor pensioner, have no intention of living or working there, it's just my choice of a relaxing holiday destination.
How can they expect a tourist to see all of Thailand in 60 or 90 days. It's impossible especially for an older person. I love the people, islands and temples.
Flew into luang prabang last month, 41 us dollars, spent a week before taking train to vang vieng for another week. Charged me 200 baht to leave at nong khai. It's 20 odd years since I was last in Laos..Vientiane and vang vieng have deteriorated but luang prabang is still worth a visit..
Carry on working in the UK and save money so you can spend 3 months at a time in the land of smiles. Don't let the UK system drive you to depression..focus on saving and planning your next escape.
I did it 25 years ago and it was no problem then and now there's the Internet at your fingertips now...more hotels and transportation...you'll get your visa when you land bkk...I thought I'd travel for 6 months, ended doing almost 10 years and I still go back 2-3 times a year.
well we learn something every day, the reason I asked is because I had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve because of a heart murmur. Thank you for answering.
