Does anyone use a temporary import for their car then leave and return? Instead of paying the 200% import tax?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of temporarily importing a car to Thailand instead of paying the full 200% import tax is discussed, with mixed opinions. Some suggest that temporary permits are available for up to six months, aligned with visa durations, while others warn against the impracticality of bringing a car into Thailand at all. It is noted that importing used cars is generally illegal in Thailand and alternatives are recommended, such as selling or storing the car in the home country.

Whatever idea you have, forget it. Either sell it or store it in your home country. Your car will not drive on Thai roads. Get over it or find a different country to live. Smarter more well funded people have tried and failed

There is no 200% import tax. There is no more importing of used cars period. It's not been legal for many years now.
