I currently have a Non-O Visa,

I deposited 800,000Baht into Bangkok bank a while ago, Bank says (new bank rule), they have to lock up the 800,000 for 4 months, that's when I first applied for the NON-O visa.

To apply for the NON O visa, bank gave me a letter saying I had 800,000 in bank.

fast forward 3 months, Today I'm starting to prepare my documentation for immigration.

They say, BANK, they cannot give me a bank letter saying I have greater than 800,000 baht in bank. They updated my Bank Book, it says I have over 800,000baht in my account.

Their reason, I have only, let's say, 80,000baht available.

however, at the bottom of the page, it says 800,000 is locked up.

Infront of me, they phoned immigration and asked if they will accept it, Answer was a NO

their solution was, send another 800,000baht to my account, then the account will say I have over 800,000baht

They wouldn't even give me the letter, the one that say that I have 80,000 available, with the sub text saying 800,000 is locked up for 4 months.

However, I can take a photo of it and show immigration, and if immigration say its ok, then I return to the bank, and they will give me a copy.

my head is spinning

Have I done something wrong?

This application process isn't my first in Chiang Mai, have done the process twice before, where I have let the visa expire as I was living elsewhere. No problems with bank letters in the past

Hi everyone. For applying DTV, I have to prove that bank account has 500,000 baht. Can part of it be in a fixed deposit account? Or does all of it have to be in a savings (current) account? Thank you🙏🏻

It is required to have 800,000 baht to be kept in bank for applying retirement visa, now money is deposited in saving account, anyone knows :

1. If money can be used to open fixed desposit account or called term deposit account in the same bank? (Retirement visa applied in Bankok now)

2. If money can be transferred to another bank, for example, Siam Commercial and then open fixed/term deposit account? (Retirement visa applied in Bankok now)

Thank you so much.

For my extension of stay on the basis of retirement, I have had more than 800,000 THB on my SCB savings account for over two years, the only account I have now and on which I always put money and make payments. I understand that this amount must be in an account during 2 (or 3) months before the application for the extension, and 3 months after the application. In the interim period it cannot fall below 400,000. To be on the safe side, I do not let the amount fall below 800,000 THB anyway.

I now think it is more convenient, safe and economical to put the amount of 800,000 THB on a fixed deposit account. And use my savings account for all other daily transactions.

This week I have to go to Immigration (Chaeng Wattana) for my annual renewal. I asked the SCB what would be a good time to open the fixed deposit. The lady I spoke to thought I'd best do it once I got my year extension. It is the only way to have 800,000 THB non-stop in an account in a year's time.

However, I am not completely reassured because if I open that fixed account at the end of this week, for example, there would no longer be 800,000 THB in the three months after my renewal on the (savings) account where it was at the time of the renewal. But if I do it in 3 months, then there will not have been 400,000/800,000 in an account for a year.

I hope someone can explain how this can best be done, and whether I can still open a fixed account in this situation.

Thank you very much.

I'm a Belgian man, 55 years old. In februari, I come with a Non-immigrant O retirement visum for 90 days. I will change this after 60 days in a non-immigrant O retirement visum for 1 year. I'm living in Bangkok. I have a long-term rental contract of a condominium. I also have already 800000 bath on a fixed account. My question is : is this ok that my 800000 bath is on fixed account, of must it on a saving account?

I am here on an extension of stay, based on marriage. Have the obligatory 400 K in a K bank savings account which I won’t touch. K bank has suggested to get approval for a credit card from them I need to have X dollars in a fixed account as collateral. If I move the 400K from its current savings account to a “fixed” account, does it still qualify for visa purposes ?

I am on a retirement visa and have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank in a one year deposit account. I have never touched it, just keep renewing it for a further one year every 12 months. However, on my last visit to immigration the officer was not happy as on the day when the deposit finishes the balance in my bank account is entered as 0 and then back up to 800,000 baht as I carry it forward for another year. This takes a few seconds and the money never leaves my account. Has anyone had a problem with this, any suggestions to stop it happening again.
