Would anyone envisage a problem going back to close the loop of the 60 day extension a day or so after the 'under consideration' stamp stipulates?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community suggests that returning to immigration after the 'under consideration' stamp expires could present challenges. Immigration officials expect you to return on the specified date. Delaying your return may require a compelling reason, and there is a risk that your extension might be denied, forcing you to restart the process.

I'd imagine it'd have to be a pretty darned good reason to show up after the u/c stamp ran out.
They could just deny the extension and make you start over seeing as the stamp that is letting you be in the country legally is that under consideration stamp.

I will say that some immigration offices (especially the southern ones dealing with the islanders were telling people their paperwork wasn't back and that they it ws okay to stay on an expired u/c stamp until xxx date when they were supposed to show back up and get the rest of their extension.
So I'd say unless you're directed by your immigration office to come after the date on that u/c stamp, you need to go the date it runs out..

Yes. Immigration wants you to return on that day to close the loop.
