Hi, I have an ”under consideration” stamp for my VISA extension on 2nd May (Monday). Can I go early, say Friday 29 April. Also is there any paperwork I need to bring. One more thing, just interested, what is the point to the under consideration stamp and why would it be refused. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has an 'under consideration' stamp for their visa extension scheduled for May 2nd and is considering going to the immigration office a few days early, on April 29th. Community members advise against going early, as the immigration office may not have the necessary documents returned by that time. They explain the purpose of the 'under consideration' stamp, which indicates that higher officers are reviewing the application, and reassure that refusals are rare if documents are sufficient. There's also discussion about possible holiday closures affecting the appointment date.

My last renewal i went the day before because the actual date shown was a holiday. Got told to go back the following week amd not worry about it being after the day stamped.

right I've seen quite a number of people go the day after the return date but not heard many reports of people being successful going early.

I had done the application about 3 weeks before the visa extension (marriage) expired and the extension was valid for 4 weeks after it expired so it took them 7 weeks to process the renewal.

actually you have your wires crossed a bit
@Phil ******
😮 When you apply for an extension of stay based on marriage to a thai you get a 30 day under consideration stamp that is actually the first MONTH of your next yearly extension (which is why when you went 30 days before your extension expired they gave you an under considerations stamp close to 2 months out) 😉 The 3o day under consideration stamp is ADDED to your current expiration date. 🙂

Yes. I phrased it badly.

you got that stamp in Bangkok but I can't tell from the stamp if it was from Chaengwatttana or Muang Thong Thani.

You need to know that IF you got that extension at MTT that location closed and it has moved to IT Square Laksi Plaza

You can try to go early if you want to. The best thing would happen is they accept and give you a further stamp. OR they turn just you away and tell you to come back on the mentioned day.

You bring your passport and the blue receipt of the extension application.

Is Monday 2nd May 2022 Labour day, and therefore Immigration at CW is shut?

@Richard ******
Government offices are NOT closed on labour day.

Some decisions are traditionally made in BKK by higher officers. Communication takes time. It would be refused if the documents you provided are insufficient or false. But chances on refusal are very small because the officer receiving your documents will do a first check. You can usually call in for knowing about the status of your case. Your number is

. Just go on the first working day starting from your appointment date. Approval typically happens near the deadline. No reason to go early.

The point is that the officer at the desk could not make the decision and handed the documents to higher or other officers but did not want you to wait until their decision is made.

You have to go on mentioned date, if you go early it could be that they will tell you the documents are not returned yet.
