While the 60 day visa is still in effect now, if I buy a flight for January and February, will immigration still honor the 60 day visa if they change the rules before my flight?
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around concerns about the potential change in Thai immigration rules regarding the 60-day visa exemption. Many comments clarify that the immigration rules apply at the time of entry, meaning that if the rules change before a traveler arrives, they may only receive a 30-day entry stamp instead of the expected 60 days. It is recommended to apply for a 60-day tourist visa in advance to secure the longer stay.

It’s not a visa, it’s a 60 day exemption stamp, if you arrive and it’s has t changed you will receive a 60 day stamp, if it changes before you arrive you will get a 30 day stamp (assume that will be implemented)

Not only don't they have anything to honour but they don't even have to allow you entry to Thailand so I would't get shitty with the guy at the immigration desk or you might well end up on the next flight home.

Why would you think you would get the 60 days if everyone else is getting 30. Are you special or something.

Immigration laws have no effect on flight schedules. Why would you think they do? I just don’t understand the connection you’re making there.

If you get a 60-day Tourist Visa before you get to Thailand, yes, Immigration will honor it.

The 60 day visa isn't changing. So no need to worry. It's the exempt entry with NO visa that is earmarked for reducing to 30 days at some point.

Peter Slaman But someone new coming here for information would not know so these important terminology errors need to be corrected. AI also farms information so that is how it often gives incorrect answers.

The 60 day stay for certain passport holders isn’t a visa. It’s called visa exemption.

I’m flying 13 September to Thailand and I applied and received a 60 day tourist visa. Easily done online and costed me 35 euro. So I suggest you just do that

Ian Carman Wrong if the poster thinks it’s a visa. Surely that’s important to explain?

There's nothing to honor. Your plane ticket is not a contract with the Thai government. It's you buying transportation services from a private company.

If you travel without a visa, you'll be admitted for the amount of time allowed when you arrive.

If you're worried about visa exempt dropping to 30 days, then you can apply for a 60 day tourist visa.
